Getting Started in Internet Marketing - How to Conquer Information Overload!

By Leslie Gilmore

Internet Marketing doesn't sound so hard.

1.) Find a product or service

2.) Sell it on the Internet

If it was only that easy!

You'll spend countless hours evaluating products to sell, programs to market, websites, SEO, affiliate programs, pay-per-click, you tube videos, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, AdSense, blogs, ezines, hub pages, squidoo lenses, and Internet Marketing gurus. Information Overload will soon set in!

It's easy to feel overwhelmed by all the information out there. Believe me when I tell you, everyone will try to sell you something.

Don't buy any products, don't pay for any e-books, and do NOT subscribe to anything for the first 30 days you are getting started unless it is FREE.

If you don't thoroughly research every twist and turn you could end up spending your last dime on an eBook before you ever have something to sell to generate income for yourself.

You are starting your home-based Internet Marketing business to make your life better NOT to send you to the poorhouse.

If you're in your first 30 days of becoming an Internet marketer put your credit card in the freezer in a huge block of ice! I'm serious! Professional squeeze page writers are that good.

All those great deals that are "just for today" or "one time only" will be available again and again and again.... The sales pitch is written to create a sense of urgency so that you make an impulse buy.

I know this from experience. I purchased products in the beginning and honestly, I didn't even know what I was buying.

More than once, I thought I was getting some great "must have" for Internet Marketing and simply got my own website, a replicated version the one I had just ordered from. My answer to "cracking" the code to launch my great Internet Marketing business was to sell another poor soul some tacky website!

In fact, the first product I bought ended up being a replicated website that cost over $60.00. After reading it, I was too embarrassed to sell it to anyone else.

Trust me, if you don't have your credit card protected in its own little ice hotel, you'll give in...

If you do give into temptation, be prepared for the up-sell.

That means after you place the order for the product you decided to buy, usually something pretty inexpensive, you'll be offered the "opportunity" for some ROCKSTAR and more expensive product that works in conjunction with the little product or program you just ordered.

I'm not saying there are not good products and programs available - there are great ones out there. However, you need some experience to be able to tell the difference.

There is a lot of bad information out there for making money online. Being focused and working hard are great things, but if you are working hard using bad information, you simply won't make any progress.

With time, the information overload will pass and you'll not only be able to tell which products are just too good to be true, you'll also have a better idea of the kind of Internet Marketer you want to be.

Don't give up during the first 30 days as they are really overwhelming! Hang tough, get through the information overload and become the fierce Internet Marketer you know you can be!
